World Bank Highlights E-Health Strategy and Claims Management Progress in Azerbaijan

A World Bank feature outlines how Azerbaijan's healthcare financing reform and new e-health groundwork aim to modernize the health system and strengthen its financial sustainability.
In a feature story published on June 23, 2025, the World Bank described the outcomes of its advisory work with the Government of Azerbaijan on e-health strategy and health insurance claims management. According to the World Bank, the project provided recommendations to enhance the efficiency of Azerbaijan's healthcare system and laid the groundwork for modernizing it and strengthening its financial sustainability.
The World Bank noted that healthcare financing reform in Azerbaijan had been moving in a direction consistent with international practice, and that the advisory work helped articulate a clearer supporting policy and strategy — including the digital infrastructure needed for a modern single-payer system, such as electronic claims processing and health information systems.
Digitalization has practical consequences across the healthcare supply chain. As hospitals adopt electronic records, digital claims and data-driven management, demand grows for connected medical devices, standardized documentation and traceability from suppliers. Distributors that maintain rigorous batch traceability and regulatory documentation are best positioned to support hospitals in an increasingly digital administrative environment.
